Me as a Therapist

As a therapist, I strive to establish a safe, warm connection with my clients and to foster a space of nonjudgmental curiosity with a splash of playfulness. Therapy is an incredibly special place to both heal from our wounds and strengthen the unique, gifted person we each are and I’m honored to be a part of that.

We will start wherever you are at and explore your goals for yourself, relevant experiences and the ways I can best support your journey. I do my best work with clients who are motivated to see change in their life and yearn to connect more deeply with a place of wholeness and peace within themselves.

Additionally, I strive to be aware of the dynamics happening between myself and my clients to ensure that I am creating a space which is experienced as trustworthy, nonjudgmental, helpful, caring and non-hierarchical. I work on checking my biases and keep a look out for any signs of relationship breach. You deserve to be respected as the expert on yourself.

The most rewarding moments for me as a therapist are ones where my clients unlock new levels of self-understanding and ability to be their most free, most alive selves. If you’d like to have more of this in your life, please reach out for a free, no-pressure consultation.

Me as a Person

I've always enjoyed heart-to-heart conversations and exploring deeper levels of meaning, but it took experiencing some real challenges to wake me up to the importance of tending to our inner world.  My early experiences with changing my own faulty thinking and connecting deeper to my essential nature ignited a passion for walking the lifelong path of healing, on behalf of myself and others. In 2018, I left a career in software engineering at Microsoft to pursue this passion and today I feel excited and fortunate to be serving in this way.

I’ve been a regular meditator, journaler and spiritual seeker since 2012 - this self-work, in addition to my own therapy, has greatly enhanced my ability to serve clients and be present with whatever is in the room.

I see myself as a playful, genuine, caring and creative person who enjoys time with loved ones, music, dancing, nature, and photography.

I lived in Seattle from 2005 through 2023. Late in 2023, I moved with my partner to Ann Arbor, Michigan to be closer to family as we welcomed our first child into the world.

My Licenses, Training and Experience

I hold a Mental Health Counselor license in Washington (LH61428412) and am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Michigan (6401223599). I’m also a Substance Use Professional Trainee (CO61039222) in Washington. My NPI number is 1003448051.

I graduated in 2020 with a Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with an Addiction Studies certificate from Antioch University, Seattle. I've received post-graduate training in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy (a body-oriented talk therapy) and as a provider of Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy. I am a lifelong learner and continuously engage in trainings and workshops to improve my skills.

Before opening a private practice, I worked successfully with clients diagnosed with anxiety disorders, mood disorders, and substance use disorders in a community mental health setting. I have experience working with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Interventions, and Addiction Counseling. I also spent over a year volunteering on the King County Crisis Line.

Gratitude for Others

I'm grateful for the incredible teaching, healing and mentorship offered to me along this journey (and I'm still just in the beginning). While I can't name everyone who has had a part, I do want to honor some specific people who have been especially crucial.

Lisa Rudduck, my addictions studies professor at Antioch, who both taught and embodied the importance of allying with our bodies in the healing process.

Colin Ward, a professor and supervisor, who fanned the flames of my enthusiasm for this profession and showed the brilliant possibilities when we connect with the hero inside each of our clients.

Paddy Freeman, my therapist who led me thru the magic of Sensorimotor Psychotherapy as a client. I’m a believer!

Rodney Smith, a spiritual teacher whose wisdom rang the bell of truth within and unlocked my passion to undertake the journey of the heart.

And finally, to my clients, who have shown me the persistence and passion that is possible when we follow our truths with dedication and dare to find a new way to live. You are the reason I am here.
